Blog 5: My opinion on exotic pets.

 Today I'm going to talk about my opinion on having exotic pets, actually: I'm going to talk about my opinion in having pets at all.

I live with two dogs, and two cats. I really really love animals. But I think that having "pets" it's a huge responsibility, and that people shouldn't live with animals if they don't have the conditions to truly take care of them. For example: I hate when people have dogs in their flat or houses with small yards or no yards at all, specially if they are big dogs; or when the animals mate and have babies, and they go and abandon them on a box somewhere, without taking responsibility of the sterilization of their dog or cat etc.

Also, even though I love living with lots of animals, I have a problem with the concept "pet"; I think it's speciesist to think that animals are something that you HAVE or OWN...

And also in the other side is the topic of the exotic pet. My opinion is NO WAY. 


I already have a hard time on understanding the domestication process of some animals, but having wild animals as pets is on another level to me.

Why does people do that? I honestly don't understand, it makes me so mad. Because it's logic for me that a wild animal MUST be on his natural environment (unless that specific place it's being destroyed by mankind, in which case they must be on a natural reserve). 

I simply don't like this human penchant for the "exotic". I think it shows that this person is in a position of privilege over another being.

I study Plastic Arts in Universidad de Chile.  The Faculty of Arts is one of the poorest in the university, since the university has a central financing system and another that is income from faculties and obviously, as art in Chile is not highly valued, it does not generate much income either. This is why some of the faculty workshops are in very bad condition, becoming even dangerous because they have old machinery, not being well protected from the rain, etc. However, I am aware that compared to other universities, at least in my workshop I had a privileged study space, with large and small presses, an industrial oven, dryers for the prints, etc. What I liked about my study program is that in second year I was able to chose one main workshop (and I had 8 options: painting, sculpting, photography, textile art, ceramics, goldsmith, experimental arts, and mine: engraving). Blog 4: SEAMSTRESS - My Future Job

Hi,  At the current moment I'm studying my bachelor's degree in arts, but honestly, I think is very unrealistic to project myself as an "artist" (I really don't even like the concept hahaha). I would like very much to be able to gain money from the prints that I do, maybe as stikers, fanzines; but unfortunately I will have to keep them as a little extra money or a hobby. Luckily a few years ago I reunited myself with a hobby I used to have in my childhood. I wanted to be a fashion designer! And even though I didn't study for that, I've always loved to make clothes and to sew. I started 2 years ago to make lingerie and some friends advised me to do more to sell and have a store. I've always been insecure about selling things made by me, and also I've never been good with business, but I took the advise, so I started to learn more -all in a self-taught way-. Today I have almost 3.000 followers on my instagram account and I gain enough to live from it...

Blog1: GUATEMALA - a country I would like to visit.

 Today I'm going to talk about a country I would like very much to visit someday: Guatemala. The true is that I know very little about Guatemala, and that's part of the reasons why it attracts me... I've always dreamed of traveling through all Latin America, and particularly I feel seduced by  Central America because I know less about those countries. I lived in Mexico for one year when I was 11 and 12 years and I fell in love with the culture and also with the ruins of the Maya and Azteca civilizations. That's also part of the reasons why I think I would like to visit the Maya ruins that are in Guatemala. Also I've never been in the jungle before and It's one of my traveling dreams. I would like to go there to know the ruins of the ancient city of Tikal that is hidden in the middle of the jungle. And to see the amazing fauna like jaguars, alligators and monkeys.
